A long-awaited day finally arrived on Friday, April 5, 2024, as the USS Cleveland Legacy Foundation hosted a milestone event that combined the introduction of the future USS Cleveland’s leadership and the official unveiling of the ship’s seal.
An exclusive gathering at The Union Club of Cleveland convened partners ranging from the Admiral to Master Chief levels; Directors, Honorary Directors, and lead volunteers; and representatives of local Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard commands for a delicious breakfast; a moderated discussion by Courtney Smrdel, USSCLF Director of Operations, with CDR Bruce Hallett, Commanding Officer, and Master Chief Carla Bellamy, Command Master Chief; remarks by Jim Folk, Board Chair, and Robyn Modly, Ship Sponsor; and the reveal of the formal emblem by which the future USS Cleveland will be recognized. Mike Dovilla, USSCLF Chief Executive Officer, served as master of ceremonies for the special event.
